This is my first weekly makeup box for nearly three months! I have not really been wearing makeup in that time - maybe a couple of times, but mostly it's been too hot or I've been too tired, or running too late for my horrible job, or just generally thinking, "Bleh, I can't be arsed with this crap." But I'm back on board now.

Weekly Makeup for January 20

I did not wear any makeup last week - it was 40+ every day and in an un-airconditioned house in a heatwave, makeup is a pointless waste of time. Even my moisturiser just melted off me within seconds of applying it. Thankfully, this week - while still warmer than I like - is not nearly as unreasonable.

Weekly Makeup for Jan 6

Well, it's back to work tomorrow after three weeks off (boourns), so it's back to the weekly makeup basket. While I've been on leave I've barely worn any makeup, and when I have I've had the time to rummage through my collection and pick and choose. It's been fun, but I do prefer the limited weekly amount for streamlining/being organised purposes.

This week I'm going to use these Wet n Wild palettes that I've had for ages and have pretty much never used - one of them was still sealed. I had forgotten I even owned half these MAC pigments, so I'll give them a run too. Lips and cheeks are fairly understated as that's just easier for me.

Weekly Makeup for December 16

I didn't change my makeup last week because the week before I was disorganised and running late for work most days so I barely put a face on the whole time. And I have to say, after making an effort to use my Sleek palettes, I'm not impressed with them. There is a ton of fallout and you have to really pack it on to get the colour punch. And even with a primer they crease by the end of the day. Won't be buying any more of those. I also discovered that even though Revlon ColorStay used to be my favourite foundation, I now hate it. It felt so heavy and sticky in comparison to the Covergirl Outlast.

I'm using the Urban Decay Vice palette this week. The reason is because I've been wavering over whether or not to buy Vice 2, but I have barely even used this one. So I'll give it a good go for the week and if I enjoy it I'll make a decision once and for all about whether I'm going to cough up for V2.

Other than that, it's meant to be hot this week so I'm going for the hardcore foundation. Also pencils, understated matte blush and a bit of lipgloss. Oh, and for the first time in a couple of months I decided to paint my nails.

The weather is starting to be hot more and more often lately (boourns!) so I'm pulling out the hardcore foundation this week. Weekly Makeup for November 18

I seem to have gravitated towards darker eyeshadow colours this week, choosing mostly greens and purples in more autumn-appropriate shades than spring. So for that reason I decided to keep blush and lip colours very simple and understated. A pink option and a peach option. Done. I haven't even bothered with any highlight or contouring eye colours - these are all pretty much standalone shades and I'll just use a highlighting concealer to brighten.

I was tempted to use the Covergirl Outlast foundation again this week because I really liked it, but I am determined to kill off this damn Maybelline one once and for all. I am going to have to do some early mornings this week because I left early a few times last week and lost a few hours of flex time, so it's cream eyeshadows only - a swipe and a quick blend and doneski. I also found a white NYX eyeliner I forgot I had so I'm chucking that in to try it as well.

I'm also changing foundations since the Maybelline one just won't run out and I'm sick of it after using it exclusively for the last few weeks. I don't need a powder with the Covergirl foundation, which is good because I don't really enjoy using them.

Weekly Makeup for October 28

For the third week in a row I am using the same foundation and powder because that stuff just does not want to die. They have both been teetering on the brink of empty forever but they just keep going like a Duracell bunny. I am determined to finish them both if it kills me.

One thing I learned from last week is that I am kind of meh about Naked. I never really gave much thought to why I didn't use it much, but after making a concentrated effort, I realise that a lot of the colours are either too dark, too gold, or too warm for my tastes. The only one I really, genuinely love is Toasted, and I already have that in a single. By the end of the week, I was really over trying to work with just that palette.

Weekly Makeup for October 14

I went for quick, easy and basic this week with makeup, mostly because I was slack last week and worked short hours nearly every day, so I'm going to have to work long hours this week to make up for it. Bleh. I'm kind of hating my job and everyone I have to deal with there at the moment so I'm struggling to be there.

Anyway, enough of that. At least my weekly makeup planning is going well. It makes life so much easier. I wish I'd thought to do this years ago. So this week I'm going for fairly neutral colours, cream eyeshadows with the Naked Basics palette for low key crease and highlight. I've got NYX Butter Glosses and a Revlon gloss for quick easy lips, and I decided to pull out some samples of blushes and highlighters and use those up a bit. Weekly Makeup for September 30

Last week's attempt to shop my stash by choosing and using particular products for a week went pretty well. Not having to think about which foundation I was going to use made getting ready faster, and only having 3 blushes to choose from meant just reaching for the one that went tonally with lips. Is this how normal people live? I like it!

This week I have recycled some of the products I didn't get to last week, and I'm not painting my nails because they were driving me nuts and I cut them really short yesterday. So I'll just let them be this week.

Weekly Makeup for September 23

If you're anything like me, you probably know that feeling of being completely overwhelmed in the morning trying to decide which makeup to wear. If it's a week day I will usually end up gravitating towards the same super basic things and on weekends if I'm not planning on going out anywhere I'll mess about with some weird and whacky stuff, but there's a whole ton of product in between those extremes that just gets ignored.

I decided to start hauling out what I'm going to use for the week and keep it in the bathroom, so everything eventually gets a run. I figure that will also be a good way to properly test things I haven't really used much and see what I like and what I don't like. I know I stole the gist of this idea from someone, but I don't remember who, so my apologies for not crediting.

For my first week I'm starting off gently, with face products I know I like already, and mostly neutral, quick to apply eye and lip makeup. If I go well in the first week I'll branch out a bit more adventurously in subsequent weeks, with more brightly coloured eyeshadows and such. There are also certain things I use pretty much every day and they are already in a drawer in the bathroom - things like contour (NYX Taupe), highlighter (Face of Australia), eyebrows (NYX Cake Powder in Ash), primer (Face of Australia Face Base), and so on. I might mix those up if I use up a product - the FOA Face Base is nearly done, for example. But while they're in action, they're pretty much my go to products.
