The Perfume Tag

I don't remember where I got this from - I saw it on my internet travels and stole it, and I've only just now gotten bored enough to answer the questions. Most of them I could answer with a dozen perfumes each, since you know I'm a lover of ALL THE SMELLS, but I'll try to keep it down.

1. What was the first perfume you ever purchased?
I'm not completely certain as it was many, many moons ago (ahem), but I want to guess probably either The Body Shop Dewberry or one of those Yardley old lady ones like Rose or Lavender. I always liked those - old lady at heart even in my mid-teens.

2. What's your signature perfume?
I don't have one, really. My favourite for years was Miller Harris Fleur Oriental, so I'll go with that.

3. What's your most recent perfume purchase?
I just bought one from One Hand Washes The Other called Nic Cage Raking Leaves on a Brisk October Afternoon. Yes, really. I don't have it yet though, but to be honest I don't care if I hate it - I just bought it for the name.

4. What perfume would you wear at nighttime/date night?
If I were going commercial it would probably be Miller Harris Fleur Oriental. It's very much the epitome of the classic late 80s floriental and it's definitely more of a night time perfume than a day one (though I wear it during the day all the time - I'm a rebel who doesn't go out at night). If I were going indie I'd choose Possets Dangerous Oil, a potent blend of slinky musks.

5. What's your favorite spring/summer perfume?
I don't have many summery perfumes, as I'm more fond of the heavier ones. The one I wear most often in the warmer months is a super cheapie - Jovan White Musk. It's very light and fresh and not overpowering.

6. What's your favorite fall/winter perfume?
That varies a lot - in the colder months I tend to wear loads of different perfumes as that's where most of mine lean. I particularly love Solstice Scents Old Cedar Magus, a unisex woody vanilla fragrance, and Van Cleef & Arpels Orchidée Vanille, a warm, non-foody vanilla.

7. What's your favorite scent category? (fruity, floral, fresh, oriental, woody)
Oriental, gourmand (not fruit) and white floral.

8. What perfume are you currently lusting after?
I'm not really lusting after any - I'm not much interested in any of the commercials at the moment and if there are indies I want I just buy them. However, ages ago Su gave me a sample of Ava Luxe Love's True Bluish Light and I'd love a full bottle of that one. It's a beautifully simple blend of vanilla, amber and musk and it's so, so lovely. Might put it on the 'to buy' list for the new year.

9. What perfume do you really dislike?
So many. I really, really hate Thierry Mugler Angel and Chanel No. 5 - those are the two guaranteed to make my screw my nose up if I'm near someone wearing one of them.

I tag anyone reading this who feels like doing it - I don't want to name names in case I miss someone.

    1. Jovan White Musk is highly under-rated, in my opinion. It's a very easy to wear perfume, and it's SO cheap.

    1. It was pricy, but after spraying the tester on myself for months at our local posh department store, I finally decided to spend some of my tax return on a bottle - never regretted it.

  3. This was such a fun tag! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Nic Cage Raking Leaves on a Brisk October Afternoon. I was very close to buying that one too! I think Shiro cosmetics had a color of the month with the same title for a collaboration, if I remember correctly!

    1. You should do the tag, Rachel!

I'll let you know my thoughts as soon as I get it. Got posted last week so hopefully not too long.

  4. Great tag, might do it today :) I hate Chanel no. 5 too, the story goes that my mum had it spill through her hospital bags when she was in labor with me *blerghhh*

    1. It's so sickly sweet and it seems to be one of those ones that people drown themselves in. Blerg.
